Themes for the Melton Botanic Garden beds are: Mediterranean, Californian, Central and South American, Southern African, Succulent Garden, South Australian and Western Australian, Eastern Australian Dryland, Eucalyptus Arboretum, Indigenous People's and Bushfood, indigenous plants, Kitchen Garden (to be developed) , May Gibbs Children's Garden (to be developed) and a Sensory Garden.

The indigenous section along Ryans Creek is planted as a Volcanic Grassy Creekline EVC. There are also the wetland areas to preserve and enhance.
